Diary of a Crypto Noob

One beginner, every mistake, written down

About

Why Diary of a Crypto Noob exists and who writes it.

What this site is

Diary of a Crypto Noob covers one thing: onramp, offramp, swap, corporate wallet, custody, acquiring, stablecoin payments, bitcoin payments, otc, licensing, cards, industries, exchange. Everything published here stays inside that scope. If a topic is interesting but outside it, it does not get published, because there are better sites for it.

One beginner, every mistake, written down

Who writes it

Every article on this site is written by Sam Ortega. Came into crypto in 2024 with $500 and no idea what he was doing. Has been keeping a diary since.

Readers are assumed to be other beginners who need to know they are not alone in their mistakes.

How articles are written

Claims that can be checked are checked. Where a number matters, the article says where it came from and when it was measured. Where something is uncertain, the article says so instead of rounding the uncertainty away. Costs, risks and inconvenient details are included, because leaving them out is how crypto writing usually goes wrong.

What this site does not do

No price predictions. No investment advice. No paid placements dressed up as reviews. Nothing here should be read as a recommendation to buy or sell anything. It is written to explain how things work so you can make your own decision.
